Great for anyone new to yoga or to ashtanga. Learn about breath, bandhas, drishti, sequencing, and what Krishnamacharya calls "correct practice".

This class is for anyone new to yoga. This class explores classic yogic breathing techniques, basic yoga postures, and introduces techniques to connect your mind to your body.

Beginners welcome. Pre-registration required in order to attend. Mysore classes teach Ashtanga yoga in the traditional method of K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India. Students new to Mysore practice are required to make a one month commitment to attend in order to ensure proper learning in the traditional method. Drip sweat onto your mat as you breathe and move in this vigorous class designed to leave you exhausted, rejuvenated, and happy. Based on Ashtanga Yoga, the original vinyasa & power yoga that came to the West from India, this class doesn't keep as much structure of the series as our Ashtanga Vinyasa class.

Padme Flow sequencing is a chakra based system, designed to condition the body up to a Maha, peak pose. The class begins through breath centered gentle warm­ups and sun salutations, moving into creative standing pose sequences, powerful arm balances, transformative inversions, heart opening backbends, cleansing twists, deep forward bends and hip openers, along with mind­-expanding meditation. Use of Mantra is integrated using a harmonium, and there is also meditation and different types of pranayama within each class. English and Sanskrit are used when naming poses. In class there is always be a new lesson plan, and the instructor will not teach the same sequence twice.

Unlock Your Heart: The Power of Backbends $40Purchase required to enroll

Many of us can find back-bending to be mentally and physically challenging. Unlocking your heart workshop offers a chance to develop a healthy back-bending practice. We will teach the body, spirit, and mind to communicate with each other simultaneously. We will be using simple techniques to open up hips and back as well as strengthen and opening our shoulders. We will later explore the deeper and more advanced postures as well as modifications for them.

These vulnerable postures give us an opportunity to explore and reflect on our hearts and the wall that we have built in front of it. This workshop appeals to and encourages beginners as well as intermediate yogis.
